Understanding supermarkets through data. Discovering opportunities through insight.

For many Chinese supermarkets, the weekly flyer has long been the centre of the promotional calendar.

Most stores run their specials from Friday to Thursday, with the strongest prices and most attractive products positioned around the weekend. Shoppers have developed the same routine: check the flyer, plan the family’s grocery trip, and complete most of the week’s shopping on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

That model remains important. But the weekend grocery market is also becoming increasingly crowded.

Nearly every supermarket is promoting at the same time, often featuring similar products at similar prices. Stores are competing for the same shoppers during the same limited window. Even when a retailer increases its discounts or advertising budget, the additional investment does not always produce the same level of sales growth.

Meanwhile, the sales potential from Monday to Thursday remains largely underdeveloped.

Midweek Demand Already Exists

Customers do not only need groceries on weekends.

Fresh produce, meat, seafood, prepared foods, beverages, and household essentials may need to be replenished at any point during the week. A new shipment, an unexpected family dinner, a change in the weather, or a limited supply of seasonal products can all create an immediate reason to shop.

Many supermarkets already have strong products and attractive prices during the week. The problem is not a lack of good deals.

The real challenge has been the lack of a fast and practical way to select those deals, turn them into professional promotional content, and place them in front of nearby shoppers while the opportunity is still relevant.

A store may receive fresh seafood, high-quality produce, or a large shipment of a popular item on Tuesday morning. But when customers do not hear about it until the following weekly flyer, much of that sales opportunity may already be gone.

Digital Marketing Makes High-Frequency Promotion Possible

In the past, producing promotional materials involved design, layout, printing, and physical distribution. The process required time and money, making daily updates difficult for most independent retailers.

Digital advertising, social media, short-form video, digital flyers, and online notifications have changed that environment.

Supermarkets can now update and distribute Mini Flyers and Daily Deals through Facebook, Instagram, their own websites, and other digital channels. Customers can see new arrivals and time-sensitive offers while those products are still fresh, available, and relevant.

GoFlyer can also connect its platform tools with a supermarket’s own website. After selecting products and updating prices through the GoFlyer merchant dashboard, a retailer can quickly publish a new Mini Flyer or Daily Special directly on its website.

The process is designed to be simple, fast, and practical enough for store employees to use as part of their regular operations.

The same promotion can also be published on the GoFlyer platform, reaching tens of thousands of weekly users who are already browsing flyers, searching for products, comparing prices, and looking for local grocery deals.

This gives supermarkets an opportunity to extend the reach of each promotion beyond their existing social media followers and connect with more shoppers who are actively deciding where and what to buy.

This is more than a change in advertising channels. It represents a broader change in retail marketing—from publishing one fixed promotion each week to responding continuously to products, inventory, customer demand, weather, and local market conditions.

Why Mini Flyers Work for Midweek Promotions

A traditional Weekly Flyer usually contains many products and must be planned well in advance. Pricing, inventory, design, and distribution all need to be confirmed before publication.

A Mini Flyer is different.

It can focus on ten to fifteen carefully selected products and be created for a specific day, occasion, or sales objective. A supermarket might feature newly arrived produce and seafood, products with strong inventory, items that need faster turnover, or foods connected to weather, holidays, barbecue season, or hot-pot season.

Because a Mini Flyer contains fewer items and has a clearer focus, it is easier for customers to review quickly. It can also create a stronger sense that the offer is timely and worth acting on now.

A shopper may visit the store because of one discounted seafood item or a fresh produce special, but rarely leaves with only that product. The same visit may also include vegetables, beverages, sauces, prepared foods, and other household purchases.

The value of a Mini Flyer or Daily Deal is therefore not limited to the sales volume of the featured item. It can also increase store visits, shopping frequency, and the overall basket size.

Turning Product Opportunities Into Sales Content

Drawing on years of experience in supermarket flyers and local retail marketing, GoFlyer has developed tools that allow merchants to create and publish Mini Flyers and Daily Specials more efficiently.

Through the GoFlyer dashboard, a supermarket can select the day’s featured products, update prices, generate promotional content, and publish it without redesigning a full flyer or relying on a complicated technical process.

Based on our experience with participating retailers, store teams can learn the system quickly and use it to respond to daily inventory and merchandising needs. Promotions can be updated whenever necessary—even several times in one day when the situation requires it.

GoFlyer is also continuing to improve these tools. Our goal is to use product categories, midweek sales patterns, customer interest, and previous promotional performance to recommend products that may be especially suitable for a Daily Deal or Mini Flyer.

This can help retailers identify opportunities faster and make better use of the products and prices they already have.

From Weekend Competition to Full-Week Retailing

Weekly Flyers, Mini Flyers, and Daily Deals serve different purposes.

The Weekly Flyer establishes the main promotional plan for the week. Mini Flyers highlight selected products or midweek opportunities. Daily Deals give shoppers an immediate reason to visit the store.

These formats do not replace one another. They work together.

The next stage of supermarket growth may not come only from offering deeper weekend discounts in an increasingly competitive market. It may also come from creating one more reason for customers to visit on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.

By providing tools that are simple, efficient, and easy to use, GoFlyer helps supermarkets turn existing products and prices into timely promotional content—and turn that content into midweek traffic, stronger sales, and greater store productivity.

Through Weekly Flyers, Mini Flyers, Daily Specials, product search, price comparison, and shopping-list tools, GoFlyer helps local supermarkets promote more effectively while making it easier for shoppers to discover products worth buying.

Scarborough买菜+Hot Wheels打野:Walmart、RCSS、No Frills一次串起来

🍉 Whole Seedless Watermelon, Approx. 11 lb — $3.44 📍 No Frills 约11磅的整个无籽西瓜 $3.
